Behind the Scenes at Caldera

Some regular reels on what’s really happened

Caldera Records has been running for over ten years now. Since our inception, we have released nearly 70 albums. That’s quite a lot.

I figured this might be as good an opportunity as any to grant you a regular glimpse behind the scenes via reels on our Instagram page.

In these clips, I talk (briefly) about the various stories that come with the individual titles we have released.

If you don’t follow us on Instagram yet, I heartily recommend you do:

David Shire’s Selected Works

In July, we released David Shire’s “Selected Works,” a compilation album of soundtracks David composed in the 1970s. The CD features “Skin Game,” “Summertree,” “Tell Me Where It Hurts,” “Something for Joey.”

Releasing this gem was anything but easy. In the end, we managed to crack the code and achieve the impossible: we struck a deal with Warner Bros. Hear more about our relationship with David here:

Zeppelin

It took over 50 years for the original soundtrack to “Zeppelin” to get released. There was a good reason for it: the tapes were missing. Only through sheer luck did I find out where they are. And thus I commenced a journey to a small village in the middle of England.

For a brief time I called myself the Indiana Jones of soundtracks.

Foolish Heart

I have worked with composer Zbigniew Preisner (“Three Colours Trilogy”) for seven years now. During that time, I have produced and released nine of his soundtracks. The latest one in the series is “Foolish Heart,” which came out in 1998 and divided critics.

Zbigniew has often been described as difficult to me. It’s a sad state of affairs when an artist who believes in his work and doesn’t allow for compromises is automatically deemed difficult as a knee-jerk reaction.
